Hello! My name is Hannah. I’m a music student from Missouri. I was lucky enough to spend last summer in Vienna for six weeks studying the 2nd Viennese School and generally galavanting around and meeting amazing people. You can read about that in the blog’s archives. My newest adventure is a nine month stint at Homerton College, Cambridge, starting this September, where I will be studying music as a third year undergraduate student.
If you’re reading this, I’m sure we know each other, but I still feel compelled to share some personal details in this “about me” section. It only seems fair. But It’s also really self-indulgent, so don’t feel obligated to read any of this.
This is what I look like:
- This is pre-Vienna, but that’s still what I look like. Note my enthusiasm!
So I googled five questions to ask on a first date. Consider this, dear reader, our very first candle lit dinner. Here are the things the internet says you want to know about me.
1. What would you do right now if you had a million dollars?
First I would buy a lot of really great clothes, including a green knit cape, (not a joke), that I tried on a few days ago that was completely impractical and made me look both fearsome and swanky. Then I’d buy my friend Haley the flute of her dreams. And I’d travel all over with no thought to budgeting and I’d see everything I’ve ever wanted to see with the people I’ve always wanted to see them with. I’d spend the rest on music books, grad school, and a Kitchenaid mixer. Maybe I’d also do other things. Having never had that much money, though, I’m not really sure how far it would go.
2. What do you like to do for fun?
I really love to travel. (Duh. This is a travel blog, that was a cop-out…) Hmm, let’s see. You know, I really like to go dancing. I also love love LOVE concerts of all kinds. (But particularly concert hall music… or Yeezy.) I like walks, going to museums, emailing old friends, looking at clothes, and cooking. I love a good movie, particularly a comedy. Reading a good/familiar/new/beautiful book, playing the guitar, and knitting.
3. What’s one city you’d move to in an instant?
Mmm, I like this question. Vienna. Vienna. Vienna. Where else in the world is there so much music, art, history, and wine? I went there this summer and fell deeply, deeply in love with that magnificent place.
4. What’s it like being a _______ ?
(The website instructed the interviewer to insert the profession of the interviewee in the blank.) I guess I’m a professional student at the moment, so I’ll tell you about that. It is AWESOME. I love to read, learn, write, and perform. Therefore, being an undergrad music major is my absolute cup of tea.
5. Favorite movie of all time and why.
Oh, this question. Not sure why this, (or any of these questions), would ever be asked on a first date. Actually, I would think the date that resorts to a game show-like format would be the date that ends in despair. But this is an easy one. Harold and Maude. I could go on and on about this movie… And I have – on numerous occasions. Let’s just say if you haven’t seen it, rent it. You won’t regret it. Maude is the single most vivacious, joyful, and loving character in cinematic history as far as I’m concerned. I desperately want to be more like her.
Alright, dear reader. Now you’re my boyfriend. I expect you to make me breakfast and give me flowers. And you have to remember when my birthday is and be my plus-one for weddings. haHA.
